Delete your account
Last updated 30 October 2026
Delete in the app
- Open StatusNet and sign in.
- Tap your profile picture, then Settings.
- Tap Delete account and confirm.
You're signed out on every device straight away, and your profile disappears from StatusNet.
Ask us to delete it
If you can't use the app, email privacy@statusnet.app with the subject “Delete my account”. Include the phone number on your account. We'll confirm the request through that number or your account's email, so nobody else can delete your account, and we'll reply within 30 days.
What we delete
- Your profile: name, username, photo, cover, bio, date of birth and other profile details, phone number and email.
- Your statuses and archive, comments, likes, follows, highlights and contact matches.
- Your Agora personas and their posts, and your series and episodes. People who unlocked your episodes lose access to them.
- Your encrypted chat backup, chat devices and keys, push tokens and downloads.
- Unused Watch Tokens. They can't be refunded once you delete your account, so spend them or ask about them first.
This happens within 30 days, and copies in our backups are overwritten in the following 30 days.
What we keep, and for how long
- Purchases, token transactions, earnings and payouts: 6 years after the transaction, as UK tax and accounting law requires. They're linked to an account ID, not your profile.
- ID verification (creators who were paid out): up to 5 years after your last payout, where anti-fraud and anti-money-laundering rules require it.
- Reports and enforcement records: if your account was reported or suspended for serious harm, the records needed to keep others safe, for up to 2 years, or longer where the law requires.
- Messages you sent: chats are end-to-end encrypted and stored on the other person's phone. Deleting your account doesn't remove them from their phone.
- Your AI studio gallery is held by our partner StartupAid. When you delete your account, we ask them to delete it too.
Before you delete
- Creators: withdraw available earnings first. Earnings still in their 14-day hold can be paid out after deletion, if your payout details are verified.
- StatusNet Plus: deleting your account doesn't cancel an Apple or Google subscription. Cancel it in your store settings first.
- Your data: to get a copy first, email privacy@statusnet.app.
Delete some data, not your account
- Delete any status, comment, post, persona, series or episode from its menu in the app.
- Remove your contact matches and turn off being findable by phone number in Settings.
- Turn off chat backup to delete your encrypted backup.
- For anything else, email privacy@statusnet.app and tell us what you'd like deleted.
